I'm pretty sure the calendar lies, though. Didn't he just look like this a couple of months ago?
We could not be more proud of how this little guy is growing up. He is smart, funny, inquisitive, and athletic. He loves his little sister and his friends. He loves school and learning new things. He is also very much a toddler: tantrums, pushing boundaries, skipping naps, and hating the word "no."
I want to remember that, at three, Lucas:
1. Loves letters. He is always reading them, talking about their sounds, and looking for them in new places.
2. Needs his lovies. He rarely goes anywhere without Bear or Lion and likes to sleep with lots of stuffed animals every night.
3. Is so funny! He says things that make up laugh all the time and is the only person who can consistently get Shea to belly laugh.
4. Is SUPER coordinated. He can hit a golf ball over the back fence, can consistently hit pitches that Phil throws to him (no tee), and has super balance. He will be great at sports someday. And BOY does this kid love a ball. He would play them all day.
4. Loves Cars and trucks. The Cars movies, play cars, car tracks, reading books about vehicles, looking at construction sites, etc., etc.
5. Loves his mommy! After two and a half years of preferring Daddy, Mommy finally gets some love! (Anyone else thing it's a coincidence that a baby arrived right before this happened? Yeah...me neither).
6. Thrives under routine - almost to a fault. He is very attached to doing things in a certain order or "the right way". Tantrums currently ensue when things do not...we are working on it.
7. Enjoys school, but really loves swim school!
8. Is not a big eater. On most days, his sister out-eats him by twice!
I'm sure I will think of more things to add soon, but those are the big ones.
Just for the official records, he is now 36 lbs (87%) and 39 inches (74%). All healthy and growing!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCAS JAMES! WE LOVE YOU!
