Pool Date

Lucas and Ally had a pool date the other day. Just thought you should see how cute they are :)

On a related note...Lucas now thinks he can swim. We will have to be on ULTRA high alert around water from now on, since he has decided that jumping off the side into the deep end is a GREAT idea...whether or not mom or dad is there to catch him!

More Pages

Some of these are not my favorites, but I have been trying to learn and practice some new things, so you live and learn, right?

Bikes and Breadsticks

A few weekends ago, our little family packed our bikes in the back of the truck and headed out to participate in the Collin Classic bike ride. We just did the short (5K) family ride, but Lucas had a great time chilling in his trailer and watching all the people go by. That night, we headed out for some Italian food, which you know Lucas loves :) All in all, it was a great family summer day!

Everything looks good to go back here, guys!

Can't we go yet?!?!?

Two cool dudes in their shades.

Notice Lion is wearing his seatbelt, too. Safety first!

Mmmmm....breadsticks!

Italian...my favorite!

Museum of Nature and Science

Over our weekend in North Carolina, my parents and I loaded up the car to take Lucas to the Nature and Science Center in Durham. I used to go there years ago with the kids that I nannied for, and was looking forward to taking Lucas. Boy have they expanded it since I was there!  I was wonderful...tons of indoor and outdoor activities...lots to keep kids Lucas's age and big kids (like me!) interested. We had a blast and are already planning a trip back at Christmas.  Here were some of the highlights...

One of the first indoor areas deals with architecture. They have these HUGE boxes of wooden blocks and building plans for the kids to try and copy. I'm not sure how good Lucas's building would have been in real life, but he was THRILLED with the box of blocks!

This was one of those spiral things where you put the penny in and watch it roll around...he was fascinated.

The bone exhibit:

Maybe the hit of the day...in the toddler play area playing with balls and ramps :) Yes, he has on a harness. My child thinks that he is big enough at 15 months to run free and wherever he pleases.

On the nature walk. This lovely outdoor path goes through an estuary and features exhibits with North Carolina native animals...bears, wolves, owls, etc. Most of the big animals were hiding from the heat, but it was beautiful anyway.

The mist garden. Lucas liked it because there was water.

We all liked the air guns...Lucas had to hit every one of them before he would leave. Not sure he got any air to come out, but he sure enjoyed trying!

This was the "farm" area. We got to see sheep, goats, chickens, a duck(!!!), cows, and pigs.

This was cool...they had a big area with TONS of different metal and wooden objects hung up. The kids got to get sticks and whack everything to hear the different sounds they make. Perfect for my active boy!

Didn't get any great pictures of the butterfly house, but it was cool, too. We can't wait for our next trip back!

"My Trip to North Carolina" by Lucas Hlavaty

Last week mom and I got to go on an airplane to visit my Mimi and Papa at their house in someplace called North Carolina. Mom says I have been there before, but I don't really remember that. Anyway...I was a super good kid on the plane...played with my new quiet book and took a LONG nap. (Mom was really extra excited about that for some reason).

When we got there, Mimi picked us up at the airport and took us back to her house. I stayed there for a WHOLE week and got to play in their yard EVERY day!  Their yard is WAY better than mom and dad's. Here are some of the fun things that I did while I was there...(except for the Nature Center...mom says there are too many pictures of that one, so we will have to do a different post about that trip later).

Mimi and Mommy took me to the park where I played in the sand and climbed. It didn't have swings, though, so we didn't stay for too long.

We went to eat at Mommy's favorite BBQ place, The Q Shack. Yum!  I had macaroni and pork.

Every night, me and Papa went for a walk around the house. I got to get sticks and rocks and stuff to carry and throw. Super fun!

I helped Papa water the flowers. I carried the hose for him so that he could do...

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  GETTING WET IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!

Papa has a tractor mower. I was kind of scared at first...I thought he was chasing me!

Then I got to ride on it, so that was pretty cool. Turns out it isn't so scary after all!

Papa and Mimi bought me this cool outfit on their cruise. I'm so cute. (And I can do this cool trick with my milk cup, too!)

Mimi read me books every day. She says its neat to read me the same books she read my mommy. Also, she had Quick as a Cricket at her house!!!! Mom took our copy back to the library (dumb!) so I was sure glad to find another one.

Aunt Ann came over to visit lots of times. She taught me how to say EEEWWWW really loudly, how to drum on the sofa, ran in the sprinklers with me, and helped me blow bubbles. She is the coolest.

Mimi has the coolest drawer in her bathroom...it is filled with brushes that feel good on your face, these colored pencil things that are really fun to stick in your ears, and something called lipstick that works like a crayon.  I also got to take baths in her cool bathtub.

Papa and I watched Golf, which I also know how to say now.

Mostly, I spent the week getting wet outside. Mommy thinks I'm a pretty cute water baby.

Here I am out on the porch with my watermelon, trying to figure out how I can turn on this hose and get wet again!!!

Me and Papa are two peas in a pod. We like to sit and work on crossword puzzles while we hold our lapboards. We are so cool, it's amazing!

All in all, I had a really fun trip. The airplane home wasn't as fun because I was tired and cranky and mom would not let me run around and yell. I missed my Daddy a lot, though, so I was SOOOOOO happy to see him at the airport. I am glad that I will get to see my Mimi and Papa again at the beach in August.
