Each Peach Pear Plum...and some ducks.

One of my favorite books when I was a child was "Each Peach Pear Plum". I think my mom can still recite most of it from memory thanks to the millions of times she read it to me.

It has been one of my favorite "mom things" to read Lucas some of my favorite books and experience his love for them, too. And, boy, does he LOVE this book. We read it over and over, and he is just getting big old enough to start looking for all the hidden things in the pictures.

His current favorite thing to do, however, is to flip through ALL the pages until he comes to this one with the duck:

Yes...that LITTLE duck up there in the corner! (Sorry, I don't know how to rotate the picture properly. It's the right way in my file). He flips through every page until he finds this one, proundly points to that little bird, and yells DUCK!  Then we start the book over again.

You see, Lucas has a current OBSESSION with ducks. He loves to go down to our pond and visit them every day. He points them out in EVERY book (even the ones where his "ducks" are some other kind of bird...or something that vaguely resembles a bird...), and he carries one around the house. I'm not sure what it is about those little birds, but they sure make my little guy happy. QUACK!

With his ducky bowling ball pin last week.

Was this bathtime visit at 3 months of age the beginning of the obsession?!?

Or perhaps this gift from Aunt Ann? (That he still sleeps with and carries around the house!)

Mmmmmm....DUCK!
