Lucas still oves his baths as much as he always has. His new favorite thing is to take bubble baths in "Mommy's BIG tub"! Really...bubbles are always fun, right? Here is our bathtime photoshoot for your viewing pleasure. He's so cute!

Quote of the Day
TMI WARNING!
We are still in the middle of potty training - WILL IT NEVER END?!? - so we are pretty comfortable talking about poop a lot at our house. Please skip ahead to the next post if you would rather not participate :)
Sitting in the bathroom:
Lucas toots.
L: What was THAT?
Mommy: That was a toot. It happens before you poop. It's like a pre-poop.
Lucas poops.
L: Mommy, that was a grand pre-poop, like on Cars.
M: What?
L: Like on Cars is the Grand Prix. That was a Prix poop!
M: (laughing hysterically). Yes, Lucas. That was a grand prix poop!

Mommy! Go Swing!
Now that the weather has cooled off (a bit...let's not get carried away into thinking it is actually FALL in OCTOBER), we have been spending a lot more time in the backyard playing. Shea is not really big enough but we pretend TOTALLY big enough to swing safely in the swings, so she and Lucas have been having a great time swinging together.
It was actually chilly one day, so we put Shea in an old cost of Lucas's (way too big...poor second child) and headed out. I had to grab some shots because she looked like a baby Slim Shady:
And here was her posse:
We are so glad fall is here so that we can be outside again! Now...just bring on the cooler weather, if you will.

How was YOUR day?
Just one of those things I want to be sure to remember...
Lucas is really into asking us all how our days went every evening. How was YOUR day, Mommy? How was YOUR day Daddy? How was YOUR day Shea? It's pretty cute. Generally, he really wants us to ask how HIS day was so he can talk about it, but sometimes he really listens. He asked Phil several follow up questions tonight about what he does at work, what he ate for lunch, and what he does on the comptuers.
So, how was YOUR day today? Lucas wants to know!

Reading
As is his way with EVERYTHING right now, Lucas is insisting on being very independent in his reading. "I will read it myself!" It is quite entertaining to hear Lucas "read" us books that he has mostly memorized. His versions are generally even better than the originals :)
My favorite part of his reading independence, however, is when he wants to read to his sister. He shows her all the pictures and helps her to touch things. He even points to all the little details on the page and explains them to her. He is such a sweet big brother!

Photos of the Day
Awww...isn't Shea cute?
But, here was the ACTUAL first photo...
There is a chance I MAY have startled her.

Lucas Quote of the Day
Driving to Target:
Lucas: Mommy what is in there?
Mommy: That's a football stadium. Where they play football.
L: Who plays there? Can we go there?
M: The Allen Eagles play there, honey. We can probably go see them sometime.
L: Oh. What are the Allen Eagles?
M: Well...Allen is a city where we live and the Eagles are a team from that city.
L: OH! Like your car is a Toyota!
WHAT?!?

Cute September Pictures
Not much specific to say in this post, other than the fact that I think my kiddos are ADORABLE :)
Might I add...these pajams, which were HUGE in September now don't fit. Little weed. |
Shea LOVES her brother the most of anyone else! |
Except when he tries to steal her bed. |
Bath time! It's her favorite time of the day! |
Hippie Shea...my favorite outfit. |
Both kids love to bite Daddy's nose. Weird. |
The EYES, people. The EYES!!! |
Balloon Festival
Back in September, we made a spur of the moment decision to head over to Plano Balloon Festival for the evening lift off. It was hot, but we had a good time walking around outside and checking everything out. Lucas was kind of shy when we got there and didn't want to play any games or go in the bounce house. But, once we gave him some lemonade and funnel cake, he was all in! Hah! Next year, I definitely want to stay for the balloon glow or go for the early morning lift-off, but it was nice to go back to an event I used to go to as a kid with my own two little ones!
Daddy trying to convince Lucas to play some games. No go. |
Shea rocking her SPF sun suit :) |
Lucas liked these guys the best. Mostly because "Mater has a parachute in the movie, Mommy!!!" |

TCUGOFROGS
A couple of Saturdays ago, we packed up the car, dropped Shea at the Knights house and headed over to Fort Worth to attend our annual TCU game on campus with the Varnons. I was especially looking forward to it this year because Amon G. Carter Stadium has been newly remodeled. And, let me tell you, it is SUCH an improvement. So. Nice. Well done, Frogs. Or, as Lucas calls them TCUGOFROGS!
We got to campus in time to watch the band march from the quad into the new stadium, which was fun. The game was a blowout and THANK GOODNESS because it was about a MILLION degrees. You would think in late September you would at least not fry at 11 in the morning, but no such luck. Lucas was miserable after one quarter, so he and I sat down in the shade of the concourse behind our section and watched from there. (Prior to total meltdown, he did enjoy cotton candy, nachos, and lemonade, though). Next year, I think we will spring for the more expensive Big 12 game tickets in October or November!
I only got a couple of shots in between hydration attempts:
Showing off his cotton candy. Yum!
Post meltdown on the way out of the stadium.
And, for fun, ready for his FIRST TCU game two years ago!

Baby Smiles
This is WAY belated, but I thought it was cute. Phil took both of these pics of the kids when they were sitting on his lap at around 2 months old. You know, when they first start to kind of smile and you sit there with the camera trying to catch it?!! Check out those smiles :)
Thank you God...
Every night, right before he goes to bed, Lucas has to say "thank you God" for five things. It's always funny to hear what is on his mind...usually something he has done that day or someone he has seen. I just wanted to share tonight's because I thought it pretty perfectly summed up his little two year old life:
Thank you God for (in this order)....
soccer
football
school
outside
mommydaddyshea (hehe, Mommy! I did THREE more)
Love that boy.

First Food
Ahhh...the first taste of rice cereal...and the confusion that ensues. The pictures really speak for themselves :)
She was literally shaking in anticipation...
Ummm...wait. What IS this?!?
I got this mom.
So. Good.
