San Antonio Part 1

Since we were toting a two month old along with us this year, we decided to forgo our usual summer beach trip for a quick trip down to San Antonio with my parents. We did Sea World, the Zoo, the Riverwalk, everything. It was hot, but not oppressive for Texas in July, and we had a GREAT time! I took a ton of pictures, so there will be several posts to get all the fun in!

Our beautiful hotel was right on the Riverwalk, so as soon as we arrived on Sunday and got cleaned up and rested from the drive we headed out for some Mexican food. Not the best choice on food, but we had a great time :)

Here are Shea and I posing for the camera. Check out her adorable dress!!

My dad L.O.V.E.S. mariachis. Seriously. Anyway...he requested a special song in Shea's honor. Here we have...

1. Papa singing along for Lucas.

2. Shea thinking, "Hmmm, music isn't bad."

3. AHHHH! THEY ARE SINGING REALLY LOUDLY!! ARE THOSE TRUMPETS OR BULLHORNS???

After dinner we headed back to the hotel. Our room was great for our little family because there was a door between the living room and bedroom. This meant Lucas got the living room fold out all to himself. He pretty much thought he was the coolest kid ever in his big bed.

On Monday morning we headed to Sea World bright and early. Boy, has that place changed since I was there last (in high school maybe?). There are roller coasters, a huge Sesame Street play park, and the place is pretty unrecognizable. My mom and I agreed that we liked the shows more back then when they were a little more personal, but we still had a great time. (Please excuse Lucas's horrible looking face in all these pictures. Turns out he had impetigo, but we didn't know that until we got home).

We saw all the shows. This was his first one, but he smiled and clapped and yelled during all of them. So cute.

When checking out the alligators, it is always safer is dad holds you so they don't get you!

This was cool. There was an enclosure for the sea lions where you could get pretty close to them and even feed them if you wanted to. We saw a mom feeding her tiny baby and Lucas enjoyed getting them to bark at him when he held up a fish.

Tired and hungry after the Shamu show.

Poor Shea was a TROOPER in her carseat all day for four days. I'm sure she was so happy to get out and get some loving from Mimi at lunch!

Family picture (minus one) with the sea lions before we headed out for the day!

Part Two coming soon to a blog near you...

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

I'm pretty sure that should be Lucas's new middle name. Along with the awful annoying "fun" tantrum stage we have entered, he is also expressing his total independence. Now, I am all for him playing by himself and learning to use his imagination. I am NOT all for this...

"Mommy, I need powder. I get powder on shelf. I CLEAN UP!"

Well, at least he tried to clean up :)

Mommy

It's my most favorite job!

Little Fish

Lucas has been LOVING his swim lessons this summer. (So much so that we are continuing in the fall!) With two weeks left in the summer session, he is able to go underwater (holding coach's hands for 5 seconds and swim about 3-5 feet underwater on his own. He still needs to work on putting his eyes down into the water. I think once he grasps that, he will be off like a shot. He has great kicks, but has a hard time keeping them near the surface because he pulls his head up out of the water. He has NO FEAR of the water and willingly tries everything he is asked to do. I finally remembered to grab my good camera a couple of weeks ago and got some great shots of him in the water.

So cute!

Gotta work on getting that head down!!

This is what Shea thinks of swim school.

Singing on the platform. He is doing great at swimming to this from the steps on the side.

Swimming in these little "boats" is probably Lucas's favorite thing. He loves kicking them into high gear to chase down balls or bump his friends!

The Price of Beauty...

When you work so hard to look adorable during waketime...

...you sometimes have to suffer during your nap.

Hlots of Hlavatys!

Over the past month we have had visits from both Phil's parents and his older brother's family. We were so glad to have them come up to Dallas to meet Shea! Lucas always enjoys playing with his relatives...especially his cousin Krysten. We had lots of fun just hanging out, playing, eating, and cooing over the baby, but I managed to get a few shots of some weekend highlights...

Waiting for fireworks with Daddy!

YAY FIREWORKS!!!

Grandpa and Momo with grandkids #6 and #8.

We took Krysten to the spraypark, and Lucas could NOT stop running. For about an hour. At least she was there to run with him so I didn't have to for a change!

Isn't this a cool shot of the two of them?

Eating at Benihana. That fire is pretty cool when you are 2. (And when you are 30-something, frankly)!

Checking out the koi pond.

Baby Smiles

Shea is giving us some HUGE grins these days. I haven't managed to capture one on film just yet, but I thought I would share this little half smile.  Doesn't she look like she is up to no good?!?
