Last Day of Gymboree

This is another catch up post from a few weeks ago...

When Lucas started Preschool in September, we decided it was time to quit going to Gymboree. We were very sad to leave because Lucas LOVED it for the year that we did it. He learned so much and was always so happy when we arrived for class!  In place of Gymboree, we have added gymnastics. Lucas is still a little wary of his new "sport". I think it is because he can't do everything right away!  He doesn't like the trampoline much, but he loves the beam, the pit, and all the parts that involve running :)

Here are some pictures from Lucas' last day of Gymboree. Thank you to all of his wonderful teachers and friends for making it such a great experience!  We will be back with baby #2 for sure!

His favorite from day 1...the basketball goal!

Big kid climbing!

It's so fun, Mom!

BALLS!

Parachute time.

Wait...what?!?  It's over?  I don't get to come back anymore?

Cousins

We have been lucky to get to spend more time than usual lately with some of my (Amy's) extended family. Since my parents are so far away, it is nice to hang out with our Texas family whenever we get the chance. In August, my cousin Kaki was in town with her husband Ryan and their two kids, Peyton and June. Peyton and Lucas are about six months apart in age, and they really had a great time playing together this time. We hung out at our house to let the boys play, and then headed over to Twisted Root for a great burger dinner. Thanks for coming, Perdues!

Then, a couple of weekends ago, we got in the car and headed to Possum Kingdom Lake to spend the day on the water with my uncle, aunt, and cousins (and all their spouses, significant others, and children). Lucas got sick in the car on the way there, but made a great recovery and fully enjoyed his day of getting dirty, swimming, and riding on the boat.

DIRT!

Enjoying his first boat ride.

Aaand...sleeping on his first boat ride :)

Swimming with his Great Uncle John.

We can't wait to hang out with all of the Clarks again soon!

Destin Part 2

More belated pictures from our Destin trip...

Checking out the animals at the Gulfarium....Destin's teeny tiny version of Sea World.

Always busy with a project.

I just love this picture.

Not the best shot, but it totally captures his joy in the water!

The whole Hlavaty clan.

And our little Hlavaty clan.

18 Months Old

After missing his original appointment due to the horrible preschool virus Lucas got the second week of school, we finally made it in for his 18 month appointment last week. All good reports, as usual. He weight in at just about 26 1/2 lbs. He hasn't really gained much in the last 3 months, but that is probably because he...GREW TWO AND A HALF INCHES!  Woah! The doctor measured him twice just to be sure. That's a lot when you are less than three feet tall. He now comes in at the 89 percentile for height. Tall boy!  We didn't take any official 18 month pictures, but I think these pretty much capture the highs and lows of his fun loving/ emotional toddler spirit these days:

Catching Up: Destin Part 1

So...I'm way behind on my posts and am just now getting around to posting pics from our family trip to Destin last month. Oh well...the pictures are still cute, right? We had a great time on the trip. Lucas loved the beach and REALLY loved the water. Taking a toddler to the beach was a ton of work for mom and dad, but luckily we had lots of extra hands around to help out! Hope you enjoy!

How fast will our little legs take us to the beach?!?

Lucas couldn't get enough of the water.

Pure joy :)

Phil attempting to help Lucas NOT drown.

Eating sand. Typical.

So cute!

Probably my favorite from the whole trip. Completely captures my independent little man.

He also learned to play ping pong...check out that form!

Jumping into and blowing bubbles in the pool were  favorite activities.

Making sand castles with Krysten.

Part 2 coming soon...

FIRST First Day of School

This morning I dropped Lucas off for his very first day of preschool!  (Hence, the reason I have time to blog in the middle of the day...or at all!) He was very excited to get back to his classroom (we visited on Thursday night to meet his teachers) so he could color and play with Elmo. Seriously, as soon as he saw the building he started saying, "color?" "Elmo?" I didn't even get to get a picture of him when I dropped him off because he ran into the classroom and left me in the dust.  No separation anxiety for him! We will see if he is just as enthusiastic on Thursday after he realized today that I wasn't coming back for 5 hours :)

Mooommmm...I really don't want to sit here for a picture...

That's a little better.

At school...lion was forgotten as soon as he saw all the kids!

In the small world category, one of Lucas' seven classmates turns out to be the son of a girl I went to junior high and high school with. We haven't seen each other since we graduated!  We were shocked to run into one another and are excited to get to hang out and catch up soon!

I also have to post some pics of the nap mat I made for him. This was a STRUGGLE because my sewing machine is not really heavy duty enough to sew through all those layers. But, I think it came out really cute, and I hope Lucas enjoys napping on it at school this year (and next year, because I am not doing that again for at least two years!!!)
