Trunk or Treat

This year for Halloween, the kids went as Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat. Since I figure I don't have too many more years of getting a say in the costume, I wanted to make them pair up again! I found Shea's costume on an online garage sale site for CHEAP, and I made Lucas's up for pieces I found at Kid to Kid and the Dollar Store. I was super proud of how they came out.

We actually went to Trick or Treat twice this year. First, we went to our church's Trunk or Treat celebration. Bad weather forced it move inside, so it was SUPER crowded, but the kids had a good time anyway. It took Shea about 2 doors to figure out that if she smiled at people, she got candy!  Lucas got lost at one point, and we were very proud of him for immediately finding an adult, telling them his first and last name and his parents' first names. Good job, Lucas!

We got lots of compliments on the kids costumes, and, if I do say so myself, I think they would have won the costume competition had there been one :)

Texas State Fair

After taking quite a few years off from attending, we decided to take a trip down to the State Fair this year. We packed up the kiddos and Mimi and Papa, jumped on the DART, and headed down for the day. The kids, especially Lucas, had SUCH a good time. The train may have been Lucas's favorite part (to absolutely no one's surprise!). They also loved the car exhibits so much that we went back in the afternoon to visit again. I think the kids climbed into every car there! We ate and ate, as one does at the Fair, looked at the livestock, checked out the arts and craft, and had an overall great, and very Texas-y day!

It's the Little Things...

I love when everyday things become brand new and fascinating in the eyes of my children. Take laundry day, for example...

Just like mommy!

Shea dropped my Kindle Fire and shattered the screen, so I got to get a new one. Phil caught these photos when I was testing out the new one. Shea wanted to sit next to be and use her "Kinnle", too!

Tennis Lessons

We recently started Lucas in tennis lessons, and he LOVES it. We have always suspected that he might be our individual sport kid, so we have been on the lookout for lessons that would take 3 year olds. His coach, Mr. Pat, has a tennis court in his backyard, wear an awesome "flap hat" (according to Lucas), and has ENDLESS patience with a wily group of three and four year olds.

These are some shots from his very first lesson. He has already asked to go and play with Phil and I outside of lessons, so we really think he likes it. He has super hand/eye coordination, so hopefully this will be a sport or hobby he can play for a long time to come!
