Mimi Picture Update

Mimi gave into my peer pressure and sent us her pics from the trip. She caught some good ones of Shea's expressions that cracked me up!

Sweaty from jumping on the bed.

Hello person!  I LOVE YOU!

Eeeee! So excited about the Arborutum!

Bottle and bear break.

Mmmm....peas at the Mexican restaurant.

What's up people?

The black and white ladies.

Shea is Six Months (about three weeks ago...)

So...here is Shea's six month update. Haha. Her seven month one if just a few short days away :)

I still couldn't get a good smile for her picture, but she has a HUGE smile that lights up the room when she flashes it. It's the best feeling when you go to get her up in the mornings and she turns on that big grin as soon as she sees you!  I'm not too sad about not capturing it for the picture because sucking on those two middle fingers is how you see her about 80% of the time these days. So weird, but so cute!

Here is the update I wrote for her scrapbook page:

At six months, you...
suck on your two middle fingers all the time...are having trouble eating sometimes because your teeth are hurting...still prefer bottles to regular food...can sit up by yourself if someone helps you get up...started Gymboree classes and LOVE them, especially the singing...are starting to outgrow 3-6 month clothes...love to play in your jumper...have started trying to get up on your hands and knees to try and crawl...have a quiet, tiny laugh expect when you are watching Lucas - then, we hear a giant belly laugh...chew on everything you can get your hands on, especially your hairbows...listen attentively to books when we read to you...love your aqua and purple taggie elephant.

At her 6th month appointment, she weighed in at 16.5 lbs and 25.5 inches. She grew a little from her last doctors appointment, but is now down near the 40th percentile instead of 60-70, where she has been since she was born. We get comments all the time from people about how tiny she is, but she is really very average sized. I think she has small bones in her face and shoulders, so she looks smaller than she actually is.

As always, here is her comparison picture with Lucas.

I think Lucas looks HUGE here compared to her. And, according to his scrapbook, he had a giant growth spurt between 4 and 6 months that Shea has not yet had. Her blue eyes are really starting to make her look a lot different from her brother now. It's really fun to compare them, though. One of these days I will have to get out some baby pictures of Phil and I to see how we compare to the kiddos, too!

Mimi!!!

As a special birthday present to herself, my mom (Mimi) came to visit us from North Carolina the first week of November. We were soooo glad to see her! It usually takes Lucas a couple of days to warm back up to grandparents and others that he doesn't see very often, but this time he was ALL ABOUT Mimi. She was his favorite person that week, and he wanted to do everything with her. I'm waiting for some pictures from my mom's camera (hint, hint...Marsha!), but here are some highlights from the week that I managed to capture:

After picking Mimi up from the airport, we took her for Mexican food, as always. (You can't get the good stuff in Durham, for sure!) Not sure what was going on with my camera here, but we will call it "artsy":

Lucas's favorite activity of the week was jumping on Mimi's bed. He had so much fun, got sooo sweaty, and asked to do it every night. Shea also got in on the fun and just laughed and laughed...

Mom and I made Thanksgiving shirts for the kids. Shea's was SOOOO cute, but she didn't wear it more than once because all she wanted to do want chew on the ribbons. Oh well, it's big enough that she can wear it next year, too. Now I am ahead on crafting, right?!? Lucas's turned out awesome...so cute for a little boy, I think. Thank you, Pinterest for the cute ideas!

On Monday, we packed up the car and headed to the Arboretum to see the Chihuly exhibit. It was AMAZING!  If you live in the Dallas area, hurry up there to see it before it closes. So. Awesome. Here are some pictures from the beginning and end of the day...somehow the auto focus on my camera got flicked off in the middle and I didn't know it. I have a ton of super cute pics of the kids with my mom that are ALL BLURRY...GRRRR!!!

Shea is ready for the day of adventure!

Loved this cool sculpture that you could see from several different spots in the park. Lucas kept pointing and saying "ooooo! what's that?!?"

Lucas enjoyed all the water at the Arboretum.

Lucas and Mommy!

Can I get one of these for my house, please?

Or these?

Our one picture in the cute shirt before it got all drool-y.

Lucas chooses the biggest pumpkin. (Side note: Lucas LOVED the Charlie Brown Halloween special this year. He has watched it about 30 times and cracks up laughing every time Linus picks up the big pumpkin and can't fit through the fence...)

Isn't she cute?

This pumpkin village was AMAZING! There were houses made of pumpkins, a whole lake of pumpkins with "swans" swimming on it, and so much more. We explored here for a long time.

Blue!

We love Mimi! Come back soon!

Halloween

You guys!  November got CRAZY!!! So, I am back on the blog post train, and determined to get caught up this week so I can post all the Christmas fun as it comes.

So...back to Halloween. Lucas was much more into the idea of Halloween this year, but I don't think he really understood the whole dressing up thing yet. I dressed him as a baseball player, and he loved getting to carry his bat around with him while he Trick or Treated. Shea was an adorable ghost with a VERY homemade costume. Here are the kids posing for obligatory costume shots:

Like we did last year, we did most of our Trick or Treating at our church's Trunk or Treat. Lucas was much more willing to go up to the cars and say "trick or treat" this year. He also had fun playing games and jumping in the bounce house. Shea thought the whole thing was horrible since, as soon as the sun went down, it turned FREEZING. She and I ended up waiting in the car for the boys to finish up the evening.

Shea is much happier in costume #2 (a.k.a. TCU sweatsuit) and back at home where it is warm :)

Ella came over on Halloween to hang out with Shea. Here are the girls looking adorable and squirmy)  in their costumes. Aren't you DYING over that peacock costume my friend Becky made for Ella?!?

Lucas absolutely refused to get into his costume again on Halloween night, so we just sat in the yard and handed out candy to the trick or treaters. Lucas LOVED it. He wanted to pick out candy for each person and would yell to alert us when someone was coming down the street. All in all, we had a great Halloween season. I'm already looking forward to next year, when I hope to get the kids in coordinating costumes :)
