Catching Up: Destin Part 1

So...I'm way behind on my posts and am just now getting around to posting pics from our family trip to Destin last month. Oh well...the pictures are still cute, right? We had a great time on the trip. Lucas loved the beach and REALLY loved the water. Taking a toddler to the beach was a ton of work for mom and dad, but luckily we had lots of extra hands around to help out! Hope you enjoy!

How fast will our little legs take us to the beach?!?

Lucas couldn't get enough of the water.

Pure joy :)

Phil attempting to help Lucas NOT drown.

Eating sand. Typical.

So cute!

Probably my favorite from the whole trip. Completely captures my independent little man.

He also learned to play ping pong...check out that form!

Jumping into and blowing bubbles in the pool were  favorite activities.

Making sand castles with Krysten.

Part 2 coming soon...

FIRST First Day of School

This morning I dropped Lucas off for his very first day of preschool!  (Hence, the reason I have time to blog in the middle of the day...or at all!) He was very excited to get back to his classroom (we visited on Thursday night to meet his teachers) so he could color and play with Elmo. Seriously, as soon as he saw the building he started saying, "color?" "Elmo?" I didn't even get to get a picture of him when I dropped him off because he ran into the classroom and left me in the dust.  No separation anxiety for him! We will see if he is just as enthusiastic on Thursday after he realized today that I wasn't coming back for 5 hours :)

Mooommmm...I really don't want to sit here for a picture...

That's a little better.

At school...lion was forgotten as soon as he saw all the kids!

In the small world category, one of Lucas' seven classmates turns out to be the son of a girl I went to junior high and high school with. We haven't seen each other since we graduated!  We were shocked to run into one another and are excited to get to hang out and catch up soon!

I also have to post some pics of the nap mat I made for him. This was a STRUGGLE because my sewing machine is not really heavy duty enough to sew through all those layers. But, I think it came out really cute, and I hope Lucas enjoys napping on it at school this year (and next year, because I am not doing that again for at least two years!!!)
